More about the books I read
The previous entry shows how controversial some
books are.
But just to clarify, I am not as much stating my
personal belief as I am stating my interests in occasionally reading
controversial material. For example, I actually enjoy reading Ann Coulter. Or
I used to.
In the comments I did make
a couple of interesting statements about my philosophy of religion. An area
that I'm constantly amazed about is the disagreement that some people of faith
have with science. I don't think that needs to be true. The trick is to be
flexible as your knowledge, and experiences, grow. I have many Mormon friends.
I don't much care for a lot that the religion holds dear, but a few things I
really admire. One thing I have come to admire about Mormons is that they honor
and value intelligence. I'm not making a generalization that other religions
exclude intelligence.
Something that I
have said for many years is that Evolution does not have to be in disagreement
with faith in a Higher Power. For example, I believe that Evolution is God's
solution to Entropy. In fact, Evolution
is the Intelligent
Design.
