Difficult to understand airline travel
We're sending Nicholas to Cincinnati to spend
some time with his dad in August.
There are direct flights from Omaha to Cincinnati
but the cost is about $500 round trip. We can get a flight to Dayton Ohio for
around $250 but his dad would have to drive 50 miles to travel to Dayton and
pick him up. That's really not so bad so that's what we
booked.
Okay, now here's the really
weird part. Both flights are on Delta. Both flights go to Cincinnati. The
trip to Dayton has a 3 hour layover in
Cincinnati. And he's not allowed to get off
the plane in Cincinnati and "miss" the flight to Dayton because that's a
security risk. We discussed this situation with a Delta representative in a 45
minute phone call. But apparently not completing the trip to Dayton would put
his name on a security list and would prohibit him taking a plane
home.
The stupid thing is that it will
cost Delta money to fly him to Dayton and it will cost Nicholas' dad gas money
and time to drive to Dayton.
